Some Serious Primping for a Poodle and Her Pool Deck as Bella's Parents Prepare for Her Backyard Puppy Pawty!

Bella’s Birthday Bash: A Sparkling Pool Deck for the Belle of the Ball

When you’re a black-and-white Parti Poodle named Bella, living at a stately New Jersey estate on Park Avenue, your birthday isn’t just a celebration—it’s a canine social event of the season. With 25 furry guests expected (mostly Doodles, of course), Bella’s parents knew the pool deck needed to sparkle.

The Challenge: A Pool Deck in Ruff Shape

From Tennessee Mountain Orchard Stone to Park Avenue polish.

Before we arrived, the pool area, paved with Tennessee Crab Orchard Stone—a type of beautiful but highly absorbent sandstone—was looking more shabby than chic. To begin with there were years of moss, mildew, and generous offerings from berry-fed birds had dulled its once-glowing charm. A pressure washer had already attempted (and failed) to help, but not without doing some damage, unfortunately. Something more was needed.

Enter: Sparkle Surface Care To The Rescue!

Round One — Stone Science in Action

Bella’s mom found us after searching for stone restoration experts and explained the problem. With a good understanding of what to expect, we rolled up with an arsenal of cleaning solutions, tools, and determination. Chris, leading tech on the job, spent an entire day experimenting on the stone, testing product after product. Nothing worked at first—this Tennessee Orchard Stone deck was stubborn!

But persistence paid off. At the end of the day, we found the formula that broke through the grime without damaging the stone’s delicate surface. (This is where experienced stone restoration professionals play a key role, not just blasting the stone by pressure washing.)

Round Two: Buffers, Brushes, and Pure Determination

Armed with the right approach, Chris and crew returned for a full-scale restoration. With cords crisscrossing the patio and machines humming, it was a full day affair of careful scrubbing,  but slowly and surely, the grime gave way to gorgeous.

Stone-Friendly Care Suggestions Including a Bird Deterrent

Once the pool deck was clean, it needed to stay that way. We made some recommendations: First, removing standing water and improving drainage will prohibit the return of the moss and mildew problem, and placing netting that is nearly invisible on the cedar hedging could

The owner was overjoyed. “I’m no longer losing sleep over the deck,” she said. “Thank you, Sparkle, for your dedication and expertise in resolving my issue!”

Bella, Belle of the Ball, gave it her two paws up approval as she strutted across her newly restored runway.

The party was a smash success! With gourmet dog treats, party favors, and squeaky toy diplomacy in full swing, the “pawty” was a smashing success. In fact, there’s already talk of making it an annual event—and you can bet Sparkle Surface Care will be there, buffers blazing.

A Sidebar Note From Team Sparkle...

Wendy from our crew has poodle roots of her own—growing up lakeside with a white standard poodle named Muffet, who famously turned cedar-brown each summer from lake swims. “Working on Bella’s party felt like home,” she said. “But maybe with a bit more glamour and fewer muddy pawprints.”
