It was an impressive property with a hefty rental fee, he was shocked that they left it without saying a word.
When questioned, no responsibility was taken. Indeed the damage was plain to see; And, It was hard to miss.
Nine times out of 10 even having paperwork stating it is quartz, it often is not. It’s marble. And this was the case here. But stone restoration contractors will pick and choose whether to discuss the stone identity or not. Chris decided to fix it and let it be.
Besides being miffed about the etch mark the client also explained they take great pride in their decor, surfaces, and home. Furthermore, he informed me they tend to be proactive in maintaining everything. And feeling confident with our work (based on his online research and going to our website) he hinted we would become their go-to for work at their Avalon property, and their primary home in Newtown Square, PA.
To them, they felt violated. How dare they! And to think being a high-end rental they would have been shielded from this annoyance that resonated more like deceit.
First off, he explained they had gone to great lengths to find the most pristine slab to be showcased as their kitchen island. Finally settling on quartz they fell in love with it. Next, he explained not only was the exact choice of the slab important, they had searched everywhere to find one big enough to avoid having a seam. Moreover, from what they said it took months to locate the perfect one.
Citing that he wanted the island etch mark fixed. And in this situation, without opening up a bigger debacle, we agreed we could fix the etch mark. But quietly we did not share that it is marble, not quartz, as quartz physically does not etch. Marble does.
Rolling right over that stone conversation thinking there was enough bad air, we promised we could fix the etch mark for them. (In the interest of preserving peace some things are better left unknown, and this dirty little stone secret is one of them.)
Additionally, our client also discussed the possibility of adding the remainder of the kitchen counters to be done as well. He approved the original repair of the island. Next, he invited pricing for the rest of the kitchen. Lastly, he was tempted to add his 8 bathrooms. (Although originally on the phone he expressed interest in scheduling a 2nd appointment for those sometime in the future.
As it turns out he added the remainder of the kitchen counters, and then decided to add all 8 bathrooms as well, as part of the scope of the job. Correspondingly, this vastly added time to complete the job.
But we had the time needed, and they were excited to get it all done.
The tasks were as follows
The results
We were certain the etch mark on the kitchen island counter would come out, and it did. Our customer was thrilled! Bubbling with sincere gratitude it was obvious they were relieved. Besides, he was so satisfied and happy that he informed us he intended to share our name with his realtor and builder. As it turns out, both specialize in serving high-end clientele. Furthermore, he was certain their other clients would appreciate the diversity of all the expert surface care that we offer.
In closing, the client also called to schedule us to come to their Newtown Square home. It would first to evaluate the condition of their marble, granite, and stone surfaces. And then clean, seal, and polish like we did in Avalong. Or, re-hone, diamond grind, and repolish, whatever is needed. As they described, this was a home run in discovering. One call, expert care for all surfaces. They are thrilled with all the ways we can help them keep their homes and surfaces looking gorgeous continually.
