Breathing New Life Into Your Limestone

Limestone has a unique, natural appearance. It is comprised of shells, mollusks, and marine animals calcified over millions of years. To say it has stood the test of time is pretty much an understatement. It’s pretty good at coping with the unique hazards humans provide, too, but that’s not to say it couldn’t use a helping hand to keep it at it’s very best.
Limestone, like marble, is susceptible to dullness, scratches, staining, and acid damage (etching). It can also become chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged. Never fear. We’re restoration experts and we can get your limestone looking tip top again in no time — whatever service you need.

Cleaning and Sealing Limestone

Some natural stone types are more porous than others, and the more porous a natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. Your marble will be easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. Once your marble is cleaned and restored, we may recommend you have us seal it to enhance its stain resistance. We say, “May” because not all stone needs to be sealed. Highly polished stone may not even take an impregnating sealer. But, if sealing is recommended, know that sealing represents an inexpensive, preventative measure against stain damage, because it buys you time to wipe up spills before they become stains.

Limestone Stain Removal

SPARKLE Surface Care can remove limestone stains, as well as limestone discolorations. Whether you are seeking guidance on how to remove stains yourself or want SPARKLE Surface Care to treat your limestone, the original finish of your stone can be restored.

Grinding Limestone / Lippage Removal

Are your limestone tiles uneven? Do you want your tile floor flattened to the grout lines to facilitate easier cleaning? SPARKLE Surface Care can grind away the excess stone (a process called lippage removal) to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology. Once ground to the level and shape desired, the limestone is honed and polished to the finish you want.

Limestone Repair

Do you have chipped limestone tiles? Are there cracks in your floor? What about broken limestone tiles? Before you replace your limestone, consider having us provide expert limestone repair services. SPARKLE Surface Care can fill holes in limestone, fix limestone cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and honing and polishing it to match the finish on the rest of your limestone floor, countertop or other stone surface.

Replacing Limestone Tiles

Although it is rare for a limestone tile to be beyond repair, sometimes tile replacement is necessary. SPARKLE Surface Care craftsman can, in many cases, remove your affected tile without damaging neighboring tiles, reinstall the new tile, level the installed tile with the surrounding are, and then match the finish as closely as possible.

Limestone Refinishing

Is your limestone floor too dull or too shiny? If you have a new floor with some tiles that look more glossy than others – let us even out the finish for you. Whether you have or are seeking to acquire a gloss, semi-gloss or matte finish, we can deliver a beautifully restored or changed limestone finish.

Honing Limestone

Does your limestone floor have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, etching or other damage? SPARKLE Surface Care can hone your limestone surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new limestone surface free of damage.

Limestone Polishing

Once blemishes are removed by the honing process, SPARKLE Surface Care can polish your limestone using the appropriate diamonds or polishing powders to restore the finish you want. With our limestone polishing services, our expert technicians can achieve a beautiful, glass-like polish, a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth, or something in between to suit your tastes.

At SPARKLE Surface Care we can instruct you on the proper care you should use in cleaning your limestone on a regular basis. We offer a full line of Care Products to assure you are using the proper cleaning product that will help keep your limestone surfaces looking great. We also provide a regularly scheduled maintenance program, upon request.
